Designed by architect Cristina Duque, these houses are full of creative exotic touches and unique approaches to design using tropical hard woods, cantera (Mexican volcanic stone), coral and marble. The large sweeping walkways, open air living areas, and high bamboo ceilings keep the houses cool year round. Tropical rare plants, orchids, haliconias, gingers, palms, cycads and more dot the lush abundant landscaping designed by botanist Carlos Sacamano. Over 18 varieties of tropical birds are ever-present visitors to this beach, these gardens and the palm forest next to the river bed.

The houses are located on just under an acre of land in Punto del Burro, one of Riviera Nayarit’s most desirable secluded neighborhoods. It is gated, private and secure with 24/7 guard service. It is located approximately 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, 5 miles before the Punta De Mita Four Seasons Hotel, 3 miles past the new International Marina in Cruz de Huanacaxtle and fifteen minutes from the surf town, Sayulita. Punto del Burro is a quiet, beautiful community offering spectacular views of the bay as well as a fabulous white sand beach free of crowds and vendors.

If you enjoy walking through gardens and palm forests, you can find at the back of the property a newly planted orchard of bananas (6 varieties), papayas, pineapples, oranges, lemons, limes, limas, tangerines, grapefruit, lychees, passion fruit, guavas, guanabanas (cheramoyas), figs, mangos and avocados. Given the incredible growth patterns in the tropics, many of the trees are starting to bear and you may find your own 100 lb. bunch of bananas hanging in front of the house.

The beauty of this property is that not only is it sitting directly on the sand in front of one of the area’s best surf breaks, but it borders a lush tropical river bed with paths that go back through bamboo patches and palm trees ending up in an orchard. surrounded by pink and orange bouganvilla plants – a true paradise for surfers, beach lovers, photographers, nature lovers and anyone who relishes the privacy and solitude afforded by a spectacular property and house located at the end of the road!

SURFING

The main peak at Burros is a fast rippable right with a short left. Often there is another peak which will have good lefts and the occasional fast right with a fun beach break as well. Directly in front of the house is a very forgiving wave, perfect for beginners – however, many prefer it to the point as it is never crowded. This wave also happens to be perfect for boogie boarders and stand up paddle boarders! Burros is known to hold any size swell as well as be a wave magnet when other spots aren’t breaking. I would say the surf is usually chest high with bigger sets.
Other breaks nearby are Destilladeros, Veneros, La Lancha, El Coral, Anclote, El Faro, and, of course, Sayulita.

Wavehunters Website:

‘The best surf in winter is found around Punta de Mita and inside the Bay of Banderas on the sheltered reefs such as Burros, Playa La Lancha, and El Faro.’

Surf-Mexico Website:

‘Surfers In the Burros area report a sand and rock bottom with a right reef break and occasional barrels working with a west swell.’

Amigosurfmexico Website:

‘Surf in The North Shore of Banderas Bay: Punta Mita faces due South, with deep-water canyons focusing exceptional waves at off shore reefs. Punta del Burro and Destiladeras Beach among others, have the swells often times swing in with full Pacific power and it is usual to enjoy 8-12 ft waves throughout the year.’
